Making dinner the other day turned out to be a mistake.

Limping around using my foot in a funny way whilst cooking has ended up damaging the rest of my foot in an excruciatingly painful way. And the gout has got worse again. The net result of which is, I can't use my foot at all anymore. At all, at all. Screamingly bad pain if I put weight on it.

I have had to resort to crawling around the house and up and down stairs and limiting my movement as much as possible. As an aging old fart, crawling around on all fours is also not a great experience - everything hurts - but, it's better than the screaming pain of the foot. Everything else - trying to compensate - is now also lining up behind the damaged foot to also be a contender for "oh you've gone and broken this now".

Marvellous.

When I'm in bed, foot up it's mostly ok. But after a few hours it starts to throb and every tiny movement is painful. It gets too bloated I think.

Monday was supposed to be an annual stupid blood pressure check, but I've called it off. I can't even really get downstairs, let alone to the docs.

I'll try and get to the docs for the foot issue at this point. Tricky getting there. Unless they are nice and just give me the meds.

But that'll probably be like a month off or some bullshit.

Athena had a cuddle with me this evening. She stared at me in bed, close, which means, hey, I wanna come up. So I picked her up and she promptly curled up beside me and snoozed for an hour or more. It was nice. Spending some cuddle time with the old lady. Inevitably after a while she wanted to shift around and go find another bed. I gently helped her off the bed - without using my shitty foot, and off she went to the front bedroom and one of her many beds. She's smart. Pretty sure she knows what's up with herself. There's no confusion there. Just stubbornness to rest and accept a slump. Still pushing. She always wants to know what's around the next corner. Whatcha doing. Whatcha eating. Can I have some ?

Dogs, as they saying goes, are the best people.
